J&K Strings is Katie Berry on violin and Johnathon Burns on cello.
We are a string duo serving the Northeastern Pennsylvania area, specializing in live music for weddings (or other special occasions) and private instrumental lessons. We started playing together over 15 years ago - ever since we were budding string players in middle school. Now, as professionals, we've taken on playing weddings and other special events. We are versatile musicians who enjoy leaving the "classical comfort zone" and playing different styles of music.
Katie earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Marywood University in 2012. Since then, she has been a very active music instructor and performer. Katie is currently employed as a Music Educator in the North Pocono School District, teaching fourth and fifth graders about different instruments and musical styles. Katie also teaches private lessons at her home in Clarks Summit.
Johnathon graduated from Marywood University in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance. He has performed with the Marywood University Orchestra, the Wyoming Seminary Civic Orchestra, and the Northern Tier Symphony Orchestra. Johnathon has also performed as a soloist and as a section player in various ensembles in the NEPA area. When not performing, Johnathon spends time teaching private lessons in his home in Moosic.
